According to the Stressful Life Index getting fired from a job is the 7th most stressful thing that can happen to a person only after death, divorce, and serving jail time. Especially fun is the perp walk down the main aisle of the office while everyone watches. All of your merger possessions placed in a box, the mug with the pithy saying, the family photo, as two security agents flank each side to ensure you do not steal a stapler or freak out and try to talk the receptionist into leaving with you. Not that I would know anything about that.
Fifteen years earlier, Katie was in the CIA. She loved her job, thought she was in line for a promotion. Then she was fired with no notice, no explanation, cut off. Now Katie has a great marriage, a wonderful son, and a career as the writer of a successful long-running show Spy Guys. Yet a part of her always wonders....
Suddenly a voice from the past offers Katie her greatest wish- an explanation.
Fun, quick-paced, well written, a great introduction to Susan Isaacs. A little mystery keeps this exciting and Katie's antics and phobias remind me of myself.
