I recently watched Watchmen with my little genius. Eventually the kid got so exasperated by my questions."Wait, I don't get it, why is that man blue and naked?" he walked to his room, pulled out his rather battered copy of Watchmen, and refused to re-start the movie until I read it.
Wow- not usually a fan of the graphic novel or the comic book in general but this one is fantastic. Rich in human drama, and a surprising amount of history. Of course it's an "alternate" history but still. I found myself saddened that the blue man (Dr. Manhattan) didn't get the girl in the end. Look this not a sit down by the pool and knock this bad boy out in an hour book. It's complicated and takes a while to read and ingest. I like the idea that most of the superheros don't have any superhero abilities. They are just regular people in irregular situations with kickass leather outfits. Kind of like me...Liquid Silver. You know you like it.

I haven't read the graphic novel yet, but I really liked the movie. The superheroes weren't perfect, which is a refreshing change from the other "perfect" heroes such as Superman.
