As a life-long book addict, I estimate in my lifetime I have read approximately 6,785 books, not an all-time high but not too shabby, roughly about a book a day and that doesn't include the audio-book I always have in the car. Yes-huh that does count! Does too! Does too! I find I'll listen to certain books - I have no desire to read. Odd I know.
Makes sense that occasionaly I'll pick something up, I've already read. Either I am out of books, or nothing I have on hand is tickling my fancy, or it was just a great book and I want to recapture the feeling.
I found myself in that situation last night. So I grabbed Carpe Demon by Julie Kenner off the shelf and sat back for some the CW style indulgance. Mix Buffy the Vampire Slayer with Desperate Housewives. Kate Connor has put aside her career to pursue a more dangerous lifestyle--- that of a suburban mom. Just like in real life evil forces Kate to balance work and motherhood-only in Kate's case demon's have overrun San Diablo, California and only she can stop them.
Like a great episode of Gilmore Girls the witticisms fly and Kate finds herself juggling home life with work life and unresolved feelings for a long-dead first husband.
A fun light read, B+. If ya' like, she has many others in the series with a new one coming out very soon.
