One has to wonder had Romeo and Juliet lived, would they have been able to cross the great divide from romantic love to practical love? Would family and friends be gathered at their 50 year anniversary while they held hands across the dais and reminisced about the good old times?
“You always loved Rosaline more than me.”
“You’ve never forgiven me for Paris.”
Would they have made it?
Passion is easy, lust instinctual- real love, relationship love- that's a whole different ball game.
Benny and Shrimp meet and fall in lust. Yet two more opposite people never existed in this entire world. Benny is an old-fashioned Dairy Farmer-the up at dawn, work your ass off all day and down at dusk farmer. Shrimp is a modern day Librarian- love clean lines, order, plays, theater, books. Yet the passion between the two is uncontainable. However pure passion can only sustain for so long - as any Chaos theorist will tell you, eventually the sand will shift and either the relationship with fall into a new pattern or dissolve completely.
Katarina Mazetti is a Master- playing on the emotions of the reader until the final page. Will they or won't they? Like Romeo and Juliet will their passion, the young love be the only memory of their life together or will they transform into something more?
