A mystery, a ghost story, a romance, a how-to guide on renovating a house in a small town....what in the hell is this book supposed to be exactly?
No, I'm playing...the book is a mystery/ghost story with I suppose some light romance. I mean she goes out on a date but truly it's a bigger tease than my date for prom. I take my romance very seriously...if you are going to introduce a male lead than you better come through. Don't lead me on all way through and then just pat me on the back with a let's be friends. Huh!
I picked this up from the library-all old school like and breezed through pretty quick. This reads like a debut novel and I think she's really gonna rock when she gets a few under her belt. It's like she's almost there but just needs a little more writing experience.
So I don't feel like I'm cheating when I tell you this because the author alludes to it from the start but Patricia Amble (Tish)euthanized her grandma and was tossed in the slammer for it. This isn't the main story but it helps to explain why she's all prickly. Tish bought a huge Victorian in a small town near Detroit to flip (make pretty and sell for more money than she bought it for). She's revving to go but is convinced someone died in her basement. Plus with distractions from some over-solicitous but very cute neighbors, Sheriff Brad and Hottie David, an annoying and double-dealing dirty building inspector and disappearing contractors, plus a murderer- Tish might never get the reno done.
This was a decent effort- not quite a bawl hysterically in utter joy for placing this book in the universe but better than a read by the pool while houseboy Rocko brings you cold drinks.I can't wait to see what comes next.
