Double Shot

Double Shot (Goldy Culinary Mysteries, Book 12)While I'd never wish ill of anyone, I can't say I haven't wished a quick and painful death for the ex-husband occasionally. Something with a bulldozer, perhaps.

Hey, I said occasionally.

Of course I’d prefer to be far, far away when that happened. Not the case for Goldy Schulz, when her vile ex-husband, John Richard Korman, aka The Jerk turns up murdered in his garage. In fictional small town Aspen Meadows, Colorado, Goldy is a caterer/ amateur sleuth who has finally managed to save enough to buy a facility. Bad luck occurs on one the busiest days of her career, she’s attacked, and the facility broken into. Worse - someone has planted mice. full body shudder

Between trying to keep her business afloat, her teen on the straight and narrow, and her floundering second marriage alive, Goldy also needs to solve this murder quick. She’s the #1 suspect

This is my first Diane Mott Davidson even though this is 12th in the long running detective series featuring Goldy. I have to say I’m always impressed when an author chooses to whack one of the main characters. The supporting characters are fun enough to keep the plot moving forward but not necessarily laugh out-loud funny. I can’t say I’m going to rush out and buy the next but if I happen to pick it up at the library- well I’ve read worse.

WOW! With such a terrific end to the ex you'd have thought it would be a good book. Thanks Zoe - I'll put it nearer the bottom of my TBR tower...
